Seen above in service as a workboat for A.B.P.
From Terry Thwaite ..... "Alpha", the docks board maintenance boat , listed as a Tug. My uncle Dan was engineer on her when she was fairly new and she was built primarily for towing A&C boats up the Barnsley Canal from its junction with the Calder top side of Haigh cut end (Broad Reach Lock), or at least that's how I remember listening to the old fellow and Dan telling yarns to that effect.
